Veteran Services of Northern Berkshire is holding a Veteran Pantry Food Drive from 2/1-2/28. Items Requested: Assorted cold cereals, vegetable oil, can gravies, coffee, tea, Taco kits, Knorr Sides, mac & cheese, jams, salad dressing, breakfast bars, Pop tarts, ketchup, mustard, boxed soups, Raman noodles, nuts, alfredo sauces, pickles, beets, bread crumbs, canned meats, cases of water, salsas, perishable dips, Jello, puddings, or assorted Juices,/V-8. Please NO pasta or pasta sauces. All donations can be dropped off at the Veteran Office, North Adams City Hall. Youth Mental Health First Aid Training is being offered (free) this spring through CES. Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Due to the pandemic we are using a blended learning program. Participants will complete 2 hours of self-paced work in advance of the YMHFA class. The individual work will be followed up by a 4.5 hour group class that will be held online. Space is limited. Please pre-register. The LIHEAP Fuel Assistance program guidelines have expanded. Receiving fuel assistance can also connect folks to other supportive services (heating, utility supports) through BCAC. VITA Free Tax Services are available 1/31/22-4/15/22. In consideration of public health concerns they are offering Virtual VITA appointments and drop off services.
